Prenatal Appointment

Pretty much all the same as last time. BP is great, I’m measuring exactly right, baby’s heart sounds great… nothing else to report! My midwife predicted a current baby weight (which I’m not sharing here ;), but we still have plenty of time to grow more. She’s usually extremely accurate (much more accurate than ultrasound) though so it’s kind of fun to know her estimate even if it will likely change before the baby is born. Also according to her, our baby has a large rear end. lol The baby likes to lie on my right side with his/her rump shoved up into my ribs. Other than when there is a large backside up in my ribs though, I feel remarkably good. I’m sleeping through the night and the heartburn is still gone. I have some general achiness which is extremely normal and I think I’d be worried if I didn’t have that! So all is well.

I’m getting more anxious to have stuff ready for the baby and right now we are no where near. I like to have everything just so before we have a baby. Perfection is difficult to achieve and takes lots of time, but it just makes me feel so much better. ;) Steven’s been patching up some little holes in our walls from door knobs and broken door stops etc. Now they just need sanding/painting. We’ve organized a closet or two and still have the garage and laundry room to work on. I also want the house completely deep cleaned here in the next few weeks including the front and back porches. Is it ridiculous that I find myself day dreaming about steam-mopping all the floors?? Ha! Probably, but also sad that I haven’t found the energy to actually get up and do it yet. :P Eventually it will get done! I keep reminding myself that there’s no rush because it’ll just need it again in about 5 minutes… or I could just make the kids eat outside from now on. Not a bad idea!

Soon I want to side-car the crib which is something new we’re trying this time just to see if it’s better than the co-sleeper. It looks interesting to me. The sides of the co-sleeper are low which has been a problem for us once our babies get more mobile. This looks sturdier and safer overall. I’m hopeful we’ll like it.

We also need to get all the birth supplies organized and together in one easily-accessible place. Right now they are sort of scattered about around the house as we got things at different times and also need to get some of our unused supplies from Will’s birth back out and ready.

I constantly have these to-do lists running through my head! It’s driving me crazy… The problem is that if we get everything ready ahead of time, it’ll just need doing again soon. If only life were more predictable!

Other than continually thinking up lists (Which I believe is actually a sickness handed down to me by my mother. Thank you, Mom!) I’ve really enjoyed perusing some pregnancy and birth books that I found at McKay. (Our local used book store where you can get awesome books for CHEAP.) I’ve almost finished reading the Hypnobabies home study course, but I’ve continued reviewing it. I’ve also been flipping through Great Expectations: Your All-In-One Resource for Pregnancy and Childbirth, and The Complete Book of Pregnancy & Childbirth, and Having a Baby Naturally. All are excellent and I highly recommend them! Very accurate and much more thorough than any other resources I’ve found. Especially Great Expectations! I’m very impressed. I don’t agree with every little thing (do I ever?), but for the most part, it’s all very good, up-to-date, and solidly evidence-based. Much better, more accurate, and more comprehensive than any other general pregnancy books I’ve read. I got them to loan out- possibly to ICAN- but now I’m not sure I want to let them go!
