Tonight was the kick-off for the year at our church. Wednesday night fellowship resumes as do various ministries, studies, choir rehearsals, etc- all that were mostly off for the summer. I love Wednesday nights! Not only that, but the women had a meeting tonight discussing upcoming opportunities. Some things are falling perfectly into place for us so I'm pretty excited!
I signed up the girls for the homeschool co-op that will take place on Thursdays starting at 9:30 and going until early afternoon. That means that on Thursday, the co-op will be ALL the school we need for the day! During the women's meeting tonight I learned that our pastor is offering a class just for women on Thursday mornings at 9:45 and he'll be teaching on Covenant Theology. I love theology (especially Covenant theology ;)! Sometimes I've thought that if we didn't believe it is wrong for women to become pastors, I might consider it! Nursery is provided during the class and the girls will be in Art class during that time so it's perfect timing. I couldn't believe how perfect actually! As I was looking at the list of women's classes and Bible studies I saw that one in particular and was wishing I could do it- then I realized, I'll be at the church at that time every week anyway so I CAN do it! It was just such a fun realization. :) And I love our pastor and it'll be so nice to be in a small group of women studying Covenant theology with him! We already took the new member's class with him and thought it was excellent. He really lays it all out on the line and makes the truth of Scripture clear and easy to understand. He doesn't shy away from the harder topics either. I appreciate his strong stand on important aspects of theology. And the boys will just be down the hall from where the class is which is ideal. Yay!
It'll also be nice for me to have one day a week off from being the teacher. :) On Thursdays the girls will be taking Art, Writing, Science, and History with some wonderful homeschoooling moms at our church who have volunteered to teach these subjects! And for part of that time I'll be taking Covenant Theology with Pastor Caines! I'm very pleased with our line-up of classes.
In addition to our busy Thursday schedules, I'm hoping to attend the bi-weekly mother's encouragement group on Tuesdays.
And on the Wednesday nights that we can make it (meaning, when I do not have symphony rehearsals...), we'll go to the fellowship dinner and the kids will go to choir practice. They loved it tonight!
There is also a new kids' program starting up on Sunday evenings that I'm hoping we can be involved in, but we'll see how that goes.
I was also considering a ballet class also being offered at our church, but I really don't know about adding one more thing...
It's just hard for this one-car-family to be car-juggling so frequently!
I always worry a little bit about over-committing to too much. I want to be able to stay sane and still manage what we need to manage at home! I hate the idea of having a different commitment every day and it's easy to fall into that! I probably tend to err on the side of under-committing because I hate getting stressed, but I don't know. This year I think we have enough going on for right now!
And the gigs keep rolling in which is both good and bad. Good because I really need the work right now. Paying for this upcoming birth is proving more challenging than last time! But at the same time, I wouldn't mind being less busy! I can't complain though- God is providing for us! I keep thinking, "Okay, so now October 20th will be my last gig before baby time." And then I get a call for something on October 23rd-- and so it goes! This has happened to me twice now so my "last gig" date has already moved later two times...
I've at least turned down almost everything for November so that'll be just a wonderful peaceful time to enjoy and get to know our new baby whenever he or she decides to make an appearance!
So this is probably all kind of boring, but it's "stuff-on-my-mind" and that's what a blog is all about, right? :)

I'm with ya on wanting to do stuff but feeling stressed about it. We're adding some new activities to our week this fall and while I am excited I also want to keep our lives and home peaceful. It does sound like you have a great fall planned. We're doing Wednesday nights at our church this year and I'm hoping to join the handbell choir. I did it at summer camp at BJ and loved it and they asked me to join the year Greta was born but she was such a fussy evening baby I just didn't want to put Graham in that situation.
